Mish Mash of Stuff.....

Oh boy, not really sure where to start! There is nothing really "new" happening at the moment, my partner opted to switch jobs as the one he got wasn't giving him the hours he was promised and now he is pretty much starting back from scratch at the place he was at in Arizona. He is finally getting hours and we may actually have extra money to put into things....Right now, its been pretty much "yard" stuff and "attempting" to get active in town.

In the last post, I talked about, homes being demolished here and attempting to save them from the bulldozer and I suppose maybe I have this odd goal of starting a preservation society for the town of Salisbury. Here are some local homes that I found for sale, yes needing work but they are qualified for "Antique" status...

All three of these homes, are on the market for 10,000$!! I noticed a sign, stuck in front of one of the homes, the one with the car in front, was used as a nursery and the rear has what is left of the green houses. The other two, I heard have been "stripped" clean but at the price you are paying, one can either make a good home out of all three and have a large property or put 10-20k into each and rent them for 500-600$ a month and call them investment properties. I wish I had the funds to do it...

This one, just got a fresh new forsale sign on it. From what I have heard, the home still contains all the chair rails, tongue groove pine and/or shiplap in. It was supposedly just plastic'd over and then drywalled over that to try and insulate. The last owner, didn't keep the power on and didn't realize there was a subpump in the cellar...More then likely there will be issues from that....You can message me, and I can provide phone numbers!

Its mulberry season here, just started a few days ago and I have a white mulberry tree on the property...

I couldn't figure out what to do with the tree......It is really to tall to easily pick the berries and so I was thinking of topping it every year....but to day, I found out, I can bend the branches way down....IDEA!! I am going to tie blocks on the branches and train the tree into a bush forum, it will have all its branches bent down towards the ground...It will train it into a cool shape, that will create a fort under it and make berry picking easy....PLUSSSS...it would destroy the house...

Under the tree, is a Peony that has been there probably since the 40's it is called "Bowl of Beauty". Peony season is wrapping up here and this was the first one that opened. I caught a mud dubber in the act of checking it out. I will have to dig up the clump, this fall/winter/spring and move them into a sunnier location as the trees are just blocking to much sun..

Pretty big clump!

We went for a walk to the library, which turned into us walking down a gravel road and then to the local city cemetery. It is an interesting place, in a very gorgeous view and for me....the peonies were something amazing! Tons of really old varieties, that have been growing undisturbed for decades! I very selectively grabbed a few and brought them back and my thought was to get them Id'ed and be able to locate plants to add on this property. I wish I could get clippings from them, but they can only be divided by roots and I don't want to attempt to dig up them from the graves. The Iris's though, I did get cuttings as they are simple to get plants from just pull a flag. The two pictured are Edina and Flavescens both from the 19th century! I also got another orange and yellow iris but I didn't want to pick the only two flowers on the clump.

We started our "test" veggie garden, my partner got me a tomato and strawberry plants....so I had to start something...then I bought some seeds...I made a trellis for the green beans out of sticks and this has brought up a lot of love. One person wanted to know what type of tree we were planting and a others have been saying what a neat idea...Man I am a pioneer around these parts! Just give us more time, and see what we do!! Also got another planter made out of rubble, and I am attempting to get the mirrored one up and the area cleaned up....but the weather has been all strange and then stricken with a cold....I haven't gotten back to it...

An Ameryllis bloomed today, well two for a total of four blooms. I was kinda shocked to see them bloom....I planted a lot of seeds, in just random places and so I will also get some summer flowers....Some day, will have a whole yard of blossoms like this!
