There goes another.....

Well I have a ton of stuff I need to post, but now we are see good weather and I will probably disappear till the next storm :p We are getting internet, and that is another story...But today I post, because the town is losing another older home. I am told this one is gothic revival, well what is left of it, and it is the cutest little two story house. Of course it has all the issues, inherited with the property I bought but I won't be able to save this one.......

Today I was informed, that it has been sold for the sure intent of demolishing it and "trying" to sell the lot. We'll good luck on that! we have a ton of "lots" forsale in town and I just meet a person with one. He was asking us, if we were interested in the lot as he was sick of mowing it and he too demo'd a house that sat on it.

It really is sad! I was trying to preach to him, that if people we're aware that homes could be bought here for 4k, that people would buy and that the only reason they don't know about them; is that they aren't advertised. The issues are that these homes are worth so little, that there is never an MLS Listing nor is there ads placed on craigslist or ebay. They are simply demolished and lost.

I was stating that if people were aware that homes can be bought in small town america for so little and a person doesn't have to give up safety, the internet nor -30 inn the winter...They would move here, but no one is aware and thus no one moves out here. They all hear about 1$ homes in Detroit and they becomes the next big boom. The same thing happened to me, I never knew that real estate was so cheap out here, I had no idea a habitable home can be bought for 8k and rent is around 400$ a house. I mean shesh...Why does one need to make 30$ an hour when rent and real estate is so low....Working at the local gas n go, would bring in enough to buy food with...

He then went on to attack the parsonage again and the church. Telling me that the whole parsonage needs to be lifted, a new foundation poured and that it isn't feasible. Yeah to you it isn't, to me it is and sorry mate but there are others that feel the same. Just because your view is one, doesn't mean its the view of all and there are folks restoring worse.

He was talking about, how these vacant/abandon homes are blight in this part of town and it is keeping people from moving over here. Well you need to get use to the facts, we are on the "other side of the tracks" here and this was one of two known African American subdivision and sadly there are only 25 left but the old timers have left the impression that this is the "Ghetto" and that will stick.

One neighbor asked him, what is he going to do with the property and he stated that he will mow it. Ha that is great, bulldoze a house that could still be restored, sold, rented or lived in....To hope the lot will sell and someone will build a home there. Well I think that is the dream of every other "lot" owner or folks who demo'd a house too...

I then told him, we would love to scavenge the home and would love to take the windows/trim. He was just bragging about how he will be taking it down, bring in a dumpster, starting on the siding, the roof, and then inside...Tossing it all in the dumpster...So I naturally asked if I could save what I could to reuse here...

Well....

He tells the neighbor, I know of someone who I can sell all the lumber too...HUH?? You just stated you were tossing it all in the dumpster. Well I hate to not be able to save what I can, but I am not paying for rotted wood...Just because I want to save, and hope I can reuse the stuff. It is things that I don't need and I can't resale.....Just wanting to save it from the landfill....

Well I imagine shortly, I will be watching a home, being hauled away...via the dumpster...I will post more photos of course....
